My Dad... My Hero!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
I dropped by to show you a card for a VIP today. My Dad!!!
This card sums my Dad up in one!!!
Here is a wee bit about the last year. I usually don't post much about private things but I am so proud of what Dads done I want to let the world know!!!
The last year has been ever so tough for Dad, Mum and our Family as last March Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer.
Due to the nature and metastases of his cancer he cant get it removed or have radiotherapy. He is being treated with Androgen Deprivation Therapy every 4 months (a jab in the bum) which at this stage is working very well in helping keep the cancer shrunk and has stopped it from spreading further.  He gets 4 monthly bloods done and also visits his oncologist then too.

We as a family have had a great amount of support from the Local Maggie's Centre in Dundee. Dad goes to a monthly Male Cancer Meetings and Mum has done a Mindfulness Course and they both go up lots for support, cuppas and cakes!!!!

So Dad decided he would like to give something back!!!

He thought about it and at his local Kirk (St Andrews Arbroath)where he is an elder he decided to do a sponsored Kilt Sunday!!! There was a brilliant turnout of kilts and folks with Tartan Trews, hats and scarfs and lots of sponsorship.
He also did a Tartan Quiz too with cryptic answers. (Im sure Mum and I had a few sleepless nights trying to help him think up clues for that!!!)
Roll onto today!!!!
(Left to Right.  Lena Whyte, Mum,Valerie Busher (Maggies Centre) Ross Niven (Maggies Centre)   Lady Fiona Fraser (Dundee Cancer Research Centre.) Bill Low, Mary Nicol and Margaret Low. Dad is at the Front in his Kilt)
He, Mum and some of his Kirk Friends who had got involved as well went up to Maggies and presented them and the  The Dundee Cancer Research Centre with £900.00 each!!! Amazing!!! £1800 in total was raised. Im so proud to think that with something so horrible going on that my Papa Bear would not think of himself but others. Its the type of person he is. Always puts others before himself.

A gorgeous card Hazel and a huge well done to your Dad for keeping smiling throughout an incredibly tough year. And well done to all those involved in his kilted fund raiser and quiz, they made an incredible amount of money and for that they should be most proud. Fingers crossed that cancer cures are ever nearer, Jx
