"Operation Blue Witch Squadron was set up here in the UK after hearing about similar schemes around the country that were sending hand-made cards to Army Personnel serving over-sea's to enable them to send cards back home to their family & friends.
As my father served in the Royal Air Force and many of the people I visit on a weekly basis were also in the RAF, I chose to set up & co-ordinate a similar scheme for RAF Personnel serving abroad.
I initially made contact with the RAF via their webpage to ensure I could actually get the cards sent out to Theatre before taking it any further and after a couple of weeks was put in touch with a Flight Sergeant at an RAF base in the UK. Once this contact was established and the logistics worked out, I was able to get poster put around the town and a local department store agreed to act as a collection point, quickly followed by a second outlet.
Using the power of the internet, word began to spread and the first 5 boxes were ready to be delivered to the RAF base in October 2009.
It was at the point of delivery that the possibility of setting up a proper website with a corporate-style logo and name was discussed and this is where we are today - with the launch of Operation Blue Witch Squadron.
Cards are accepted from anyone and everyone and if they are not hand-made but shop-bought - then thats okay too.
All we ask is that there is NO LOOSE GLITTER on the cards for safety reasons. If the glitter is encapsulated then that is okay - but if you are in any doubt - best to leave it off."
Closing date for Christmas cards is 3th October So send a couple to Cazz and help our Forces celebrate Christmas too! Either click on the link above or email me and I will forward it to Cazz. Thanks in advance. hazze89510@aol.com
